Dear Student:<\/p>\n
Ramapo has partnered with Valley Medical Group (VMG) to deliver high-quality, comprehensive, and compassionate medical care to students and employees right on campus. Located at the South Entrance, VMG will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Fall semester (summer hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Appointments can be made by calling 201-684-7536 or through VMG\u2019s Save Your Spot <\/span><\/a>service. Drop-in visits are always welcome. If you have a medical emergency, always dial 911.<\/p>\n Students have access to all primary care services: telehealth, sick visits, physicals, wellness visits, management of chronic conditions, preventative screenings, concussion clearance, and sexual\/reproductive health options. Please review a listing of the complete menu of services<\/span><\/a>. The Valley Pharmacy offers convenient same-day or next-day delivery of prescription medications directly to the campus.<\/p>\n A visit to VMG is similar to visiting your local doctor\u2019s office or urgent care. Just as with any healthcare provider, medical services are billed to your insurance company. VMG will collect whatever co-pay or deductible is associated with your health insurance plan at the time of service so long as the carrier is accepted by VMG. Please see a list of accepted current insurance plans<\/span><\/a>. The Ramapo Student Health Insurance Plan is accepted by VMG.<\/p>\n Health records are maintained through an electronic health record system called Athena. If you ever need VMG and become a patient, you will be given access to Athena and can adjust the settings so that you are the only person who can view your medical record, after care summary, and other private medical information. Under insurance, an Explanation of Benefits (known as an EOB) will be sent to the insurance policy holder (in many scenarios this is your parents). The EOB indicates what healthcare services you received, how much the provider charged, how much insurance paid, and what (if anything) you owe.<\/p>\n If you are seeking care for a sensitive health visit and do not want an EOB sent home by VMG, you have the option of declining to use your insurance and to inform the health provider that you wish to self-pay for the visit. VMG staff can provide you with an estimate for the discounted, self-pay visit.<\/p>\n Health insurance is mandatory for all full-time students. If you are enrolled in the Ramapo Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) through Aetna Student Health, you receive 100% coverage with $0 out-of-pocket costs <\/b>for covered services at on-campus Health Services (managed by Valley Medical Group). This means no copays and no coinsurance <\/b>for sick visits, physicals, and preventive screenings. For more details, visit the Ramapo SHIP <\/span>page<\/a>.<\/p>\n All full-time students are automatically enrolled and billed for health insurance. Please carefully consider if you would like to remain enrolled in the Ramapo SHIP or if you will \u201copt out\u201d by providing evidence of health insurance coverage to the College-sponsored insurance company <\/span><\/a>by September 25, 2026.<\/p>\n The well-being of students remains a top priority as staying healthy is essential to your success.
