You may need to include more information to provide better context.<\/li>\n<li>Alt text is not the same as a caption, which may or may not explain what the image is.<\/li>\n<li>Alt text empowers those with disabilities or impairments (such as vision or learning disabilities) to fully digest your content.<\/li>\n<li>Alt text is accessible to those who need it through screen readers.<\/li>\n<li>Screen readers read both the alt text and social media captions.<\/li>\n<li>Screen readers cannot read text that is on a photo.<\/li>\n<li>When writing alt text for a designed image with text on it, write the text out into complete sentences. You can change the links as many times as you want.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Add a link with the &#8220;link sticker&#8221; in an Instagram Story<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Special Fonts and Emojis<\/p><div>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You may have noticed that some accounts use special fonts in their usernames, names or captions on social.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These usually affect the look of the text &#8211; sometimes makes thinner, sometimes makes it look bolder, sometimes they look like they&#8217;re in cursive.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These <\/span><b>special fonts are not recommended for use at any time<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as they are inaccessible for screen readers and do not show to certain, older mobile devices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong><span style=\"color: #2f2f2f\">L<\/span>imit excessive characters or emojis &#8211; these slow screen readers down and\/or don\u2019t work\/show at all.<\/strong>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em style=\"color: #2f2f2f\">Did you know?<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Screen readers can read emojis!\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Screen readers cannot read text such as \ud83d\ude42 as a smiley face.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Writing an entire post with just emojis is not recommended; screen readers will have to read each one and your purpose or meaning most likely will get lost on the person using the screen reader.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Colors<\/p><div>\n<ul>\n<li>Colors used for fonts, backgrounds and designed pieces are important to consider.\n<ul>\n<li>Some colors should never be paired together because they do not meet accessibility standards<\/li>\n<li>Review Marketing&#8217;s Brand Standards on color usage for best practices and recommendations: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/brand\/design-standards\/#s2\">https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/brand\/design-standards\/#s2\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"item\"><p class=\"question\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-plus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-minus fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span> Video Captions<\/p><div>\n<ul>\n<li>Captions for videos &#8211; videos should always have captions if there&#8217;s a voice over or a person speaking in your video\/Reel\/TikTok.\n<ul>\n<li>The best option for captions on social are &#8220;burned on&#8221; or &#8220;open&#8221; captions &#8211; meaning they always show, even if the sound is on.<\/li>\n<li>Closed captions are ideal if you can&#8217;t do burned on captions. Closed need to be toggled on by the viewer.<\/li>\n<li>Instagram and TikTok offer ways to add editable captions, as do other video editing softwares such as CapCut.
