VPN will be required to connect remotely. There are both open labs and course-restricted labs. Students that require access to course-restricted labs and are unable to do so should contact the helpdesk at helpdesk@ramapo.edu.<\/p>\n<h4>ONE TIME PREP<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Install the VPN client. Instructions can be found\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/its\/vpn\/\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a Mac and need to access lab Windows computers, install Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/microsoft-remote-desktop\/id1295203466?mt=12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mac App Store<\/a>. NOTE: You must have MacOS Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, or Catalina as a minimum requirement. Check &#8220;About this Mac&#8221; if you&#8217;re not sure which you version of MacOS you have.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a Windows computer and need to access lab Mac computers, you&#8217;ll need to install a VNC client.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>TO CONNECT FROM\u00a0<b>WINDOWS TO WINDOWS<\/b>\u00a0COMPUTERS<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Select the computer lab you wish to access.<\/li>\n<li>Choose an available computer and click on the &#8220;Connect&#8221; link. You will be prompted to download and save a .RDP file.<\/li>\n<li>Open the .RDP file.<\/li>\n<li>Click past any certificate errors or warnings.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your 海角社区 username and password. Your username must be preceded with &#8220;<b>RCNJ-ADS\\&#8221;<\/b>.\u00a0 For example, if your email is\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:pparker@ramapo.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pparker@ramapo.edu<\/a>, enter RCNJ-ADS\\pparker for your username.<\/li>\n<li>Please make sure you log out of the lab computer when you are done &#8211; don&#8217;t just disconnect the session. Logging out will make the computer available for others immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>TO CONNECT FROM\u00a0<b>WINDOWS TO MAC<\/b>\u00a0COMPUTERS<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Choose an available computer and click on the &#8220;Connect&#8221; link.<\/li>\n<li>Open the .vnc file. Your VNC client should launch.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your 海角社区 username and password.<\/li>\n<li>Please make sure you log out of the lab computer when you are done &#8211; don&#8217;t just disconnect the session. Logging out will make the computer available for others immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>TO CONNECT FROM\u00a0<b>MAC TO WINDOWS<\/b>\u00a0COMPUTERS<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Choose an available computer and click on the &#8220;Connect&#8221; link.<\/li>\n<li>Open the Microsoft RDP file that was downloaded. The Microsoft Remote Desktop app should launch.<\/li>\n<li>Click past any certificate errors or warnings.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your 海角社区 username and password.<\/li>\n<li>Please make sure you log out of the lab computer when you are done &#8211; don&#8217;t just disconnect the session. Logging out will make the computer available for others immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>TO CONNECT FROM\u00a0<b>MAC TO MAC<\/b>\u00a0COMPUTERS<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Choose an available computer and click on the &#8220;Connect&#8221; link.<\/li>\n<li>You may be prompted to allow the page to open Screen Sharing. Click &#8220;Allow&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Screen Sharing will display a windows that says &#8220;Connect To: xxx.xx.xx.xxx [numeric address]&#8221;. Click &#8220;Connect&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your 海角社区 username and password.<\/li>\n<li>Please make sure you log out of the lab computer when you are done &#8211; don&#8217;t just disconnect the session. Logging out will make the computer available for others immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>HAVING PROBLEMS CONNECTING?<\/h4>\n<p>If you have a\u00a0<b>Windows<\/b>\u00a0computer:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Install the VPN client and connect to the 海角社区 VPN<\/li>\n<li>Select a lab from the list, click &#8220;Connect to a PC&#8221; or &#8220;Connect to a Mac&#8221; button.<\/li>\n<li>Click past any certificate errors or warnings.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your username and password.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you have a\u00a0<b>Mac<\/b>\u00a0computer:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Install the VPN client and connect to the 海角社区 VPN<\/li>\n<li>Get Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/microsoft-remote-desktop\/id1295203466?mt=12\">App Store<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Select a lab from the list, click &#8220;Connect to a PC&#8221; or &#8220;Connect to a Mac&#8221; button.<\/li>\n<li>Accept any certificate\/security notices.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your username and password.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>TROUBLESHOOTING<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure you are connected to the 海角社区 VPN.<\/li>\n<li>Try another computer from the pool of available computers.<\/li>\n<li>Delete any downloads that end in .RDP<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your home internet connection is working.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>LIMITATIONS OF REMOTE DESKTOP<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Video and Audio<\/b>performance may be degraded and\u00a0<b>audio does not work in Chrome<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Users\u00a0<b>cannot drag and drop files<\/b>\u00a0between their computer and the remote desktop.
