These messages are designed to create panic so you&#8217;ll act quickly without double-checking.<\/p>\n<h5 style='font-weight:bold;font-size:18px;color:#8E0A26'>What We Are Currently Seeing<\/h5>\n<p>Many recent phishing emails claim that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your 海角社区 account is <b>scheduled for closure<\/b><\/li>\n<li>There is a <b>verification issue<\/b> with your account<\/li>\n<li>You must click a link to a <b>&#8220;new&#8221; portal<\/b> to verify your identity<\/li>\n<li>Failure to act immediately will result in <b>loss of access, assessments, or coursework<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Google forms, asking for password confirmation, or banking information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While the wording may vary, the goal is always the same: <b>They want you to click a link and enter your 海角社区 username and password into a <u>fake<\/u> form.<\/b><\/p>\n<h5 style='font-weight:bold;font-size:18px;color:#8E0A26'>Important To Know<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Ramapo IT <b>will never ask you to provide your password<\/b> for ANY reason.<\/li>\n<li><b>NEVER<\/b> provide banking information to anyone requesting it via email or text.<\/li>\n<li>Legitimate IT messages will not threaten immediate account closure or loss of academic work.<\/li>\n<li>Do not assume that a message from a 海角社区 email address is authentic.<\/li>\n<li>Be suspicious of any message that has unusual formatting, such as large text or highlighted sections, or awkward grammar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As always, if you have any doubt, you can contact the <a href="https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/its\/help-desk\/">help desk<\/a> at any time for assistance.<br \/>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsableContent\" tabindex=\"0\"><div class=\"collapsableTitle\"><span class=\"fa-stack\"><i class=\"fa fa-circle fa-stack-2x\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-down fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-up fa-stack-1x fa-inverse\"><\/i><\/span>I think I was sent a phishing email. As a result of the interaction, your email account may have been suspended. For enhanced protection, Free AVG is recommended.
